House PR celebrated World Book Day yesterday by getting together and discussing their favourite books. It is often thought that you are what you read, so let’s see what our Housemate’s most loved books say about them.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tart
Anna Karenina was her first choice but decided she sounded too pretentious and has settled on The Goldfinch
This Boy by Alan Johnson
Tim described this book as a lovely memoir of a poverty-ravaged childhood – a heart-breaking and heart-warming story at the same time. He’s a softie really!
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves: A Novel by Karen Joy Fowler
Camilla cries at almost everything, but perhaps cried reading this book the most.
The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington
Typical Goldsmiths student, Jess, has gone for what she describes as a “feminist surrealist masterpiece”. I’d like to point out that her first answer was actually; “any of the Goosebumps series…”
Outliers by Malcolm Caldwell
A business read chosen by our PR guru.
Big Sam: My Autobiography by Sam Allardyce
Being a life-long fan of Sam, Caroline can really appreciate the depth of this great read.
“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” – Oscar Wilde
